In addition to the increased number of exchange visits, networking and information exchange have also been enhanced as evidenced by the establishment of resource centres by some Lead Agencies, such as Thandizani in Eastern province. ZNAN members are also reporting their increased participation in national and regional HIV events. Finally, one of the indicators of success of ZNAN’s networking and information sharing activities is the ever-increasing demand from NGOs and CBOs for more opportunities for information exchange and networking. ZNAN has made some efforts to ensure better co-ordination and collaboration with existing structures at provincial and district levels. For example, the head of ZNAN’s Provincial Office is also the chair of the Copperbelt’s PATF and he works in collaboration with the Kitwe District AIDS Task Force (DATF). Such mechanisms will ensure that ZNAN’s networking and collaboration efforts are integrated into broader frameworks involving other structures such as PATFs and DATFs. Immediate measures will be to address the internal weaknesses of provincial committees, including reconstituting some of them and providing them with revised terms of reference. Efforts will then be directed at ensuring that the committees promote networking, collaboration and information sharing among the member organisations. Participation in national, regional, international networks and in key national events such as World AIDS day, World TB day, World Malaria day, Women’s Day, Day of the Child and others will also be strengthened to ensure that wider and higher level networking and coordination. The specific objectives under strengthening networking and collaboration will be: 1. To increase ZNAN membership 2. To increase information sharing activities and exchange visits amongst CSOs 3. To strengthen capacity of selected member organisations 4. To strengthen roles and functions of ZNAN provincial committees 5. To facilitate CSO involvement in key national events, e.g. World AIDS day, World TB day, World Malaria day, Women’s Day, Day of the Child and others. |
